Pick-up tips for East Sheen
The Upper Richmond Road West is busy and has bus lanes and limited places to stop. If you are being collected from the high street, a side road is usually easier for the driver. When you book, give your exact address and, if it helps, a note such as "flat entrance on the side street" or "white gate".
Roads near Sheen Gate can be busy on sunny weekends, as many people head into Richmond Park. Allow extra time if you are travelling then.
Getting to the airports
Heathrow trips from East Sheen usually head west through Richmond to the A316, or north towards Chiswick and the M4. For Gatwick, drivers often go south through Roehampton to the A3. Because East Sheen is on the South Circular, trips east to London City Airport can be a little shorter than from other parts of Richmond.
Rail links
East Sheen does not have its own station on the high street. The nearest are Mortlake, on Sheen Lane, and North Sheen, both on the South Western Railway line to Waterloo. Richmond station, with the District line and the Overground, is a short drive west. A car is often handy for early trains or when you have luggage.
Neighbouring areas
East Sheen borders Mortlake to the north, which shares the SW14 postcode. Barnes is to the east, and Richmond Park separates it from Ham and Petersham on the far side.
