About Hampton
Hampton is at the south-western corner of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, on the north bank of the Thames. Hampton village, around Thames Street and the riverside, has the church, a few pubs and Garrick's Temple. Hampton Hill has its own high street to the north. To the east is Bushy Park, and just beyond it, across the river, is Hampton Court Palace.
Hampton station has South Western Railway trains to Waterloo on the Shepperton line, via Kingston or Twickenham.
Journeys from Hampton
When you book Hampton taxis through us, a licensed private hire operator carries out your journey. Hampton is well placed for:
- Heathrow. Often 20โ35 minutes, usually via the A312 north through Hanworth and Feltham. See our Heathrow taxi page.
- Gatwick. Via the A308 and M3 to the M25, or through Kingston and the A3. See Gatwick.
- Hampton Court Palace and its gardens, just across Hampton Court Bridge.
- Kingston for shopping, the station and Kingston Hospital.
Visiting Hampton Court
If you are visiting Hampton Court Palace, tell us so the driver drops you at the main entrance. Leaving after a visit, agree a pick-up time and place, and keep your phone on. Roads around the bridge get busy on sunny weekends and during events at the palace.
Pick-up notes
Hampton has a mix of busy main roads, such as the A308 Upper Sunbury Road, and quiet residential streets. On main roads, stopping can be difficult, so a side road is often better. In Hampton village, streets are narrow near the river. Add any access notes to your booking.
A longer drive into central London
Hampton is one of the furthest parts of our area from central London. Allow more time than from Richmond for trips to Waterloo, Victoria or King's Cross, especially during weekday rush hours.
Neighbouring areas
Hampton borders Teddington and Bushy Park to the east, and Twickenham and Whitton to the north-east. Hampton Wick and Ham are further along the river.
