About London Bridge station
London Bridge is one of the busiest stations in London. It sits on the south bank of the Thames in Southwark, directly beneath The Shard. Thameslink trains run through it to Brighton, Gatwick, Bedford and Cambridge, while Southern and Southeastern services go to Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Borough Market and the City of London are a short walk away.
From Richmond, reaching London Bridge by train or Tube involves at least one change. A Richmond to London Bridge station taxi takes you straight to the station with your bags.
Journey time and route
London Bridge is on the eastern side of central London, so it is one of the longer station runs from Richmond. Allow 45โ70 minutes.
A common route runs east through East Sheen and Putney on the A205, then through Wandsworth and along the south side of the river towards Vauxhall and Southwark. The driver may also cross the river and use the Embankment.
London Bridge is inside the Congestion Charge zone. During charging hours, the charge may apply. Your quote shows how any charge is handled.
Drop-off and pick-up
The station has several entrances, and the roads around it are busy. Tell us which entrance you would like, if you have a preference, and the driver will use the closest permitted stopping point.
For pick-ups:
- Give your train arrival time and where it is coming from.
- Say which exit you plan to use.
- Keep your phone on, as the station is large and it is easy to miss each other.
Business trips to the City
London Bridge is close to the City and to many offices in Southwark. If you have a meeting nearby, you can book a car to the station or straight to the office address. An executive car is a comfortable choice for work travel.
Visiting Borough Market or The Shard
On weekends, plenty of people head to Borough Market or for a view from The Shard. Book a car from Richmond and a return journey later in the day. Weekend traffic near the river can be slow around lunchtime, so allow extra time.
Vehicle choice
For one or two passengers, a saloon is enough. For a group day out, see our 6 seater taxi page.
