About St Margarets

St Margarets is a residential area between Twickenham and Richmond, on the west bank of the Thames. Its small centre around Crown Road and St Margarets Road has cafés, a few shops and a strong local feel. The A316 Chertsey Road runs along its edge, linking Richmond with Twickenham and the M3. Across the river is Richmond, reached by Twickenham Bridge.

St Margarets station has South Western Railway trains to Waterloo, Richmond and Twickenham. Marble Hill Park, with its Georgian villa, is on the riverside nearby.

Journeys from St Margarets

When you book St Margarets taxis through us, a licensed private hire operator carries out your journey. The A316 makes many trips quick to start:

  • Heathrow. Often 20–35 minutes via the A316 and A30, or through Isleworth and Hounslow. See our Heathrow taxi page.
  • Gatwick. Usually via the A316 and M3 to the M25. See Gatwick.
  • Central London. East over Twickenham Bridge and through Richmond, or north via Chiswick to the A4 for Paddington.
  • Local journeys to Richmond, Twickenham and Isleworth.

Pick-up notes

St Margarets is close to Twickenham Stadium, and on match days and concert days some roads are closed or very busy. If you are travelling then, book early and pick a meeting point away from the closures.

Many streets are lined with parked cars. If your road is narrow, add a note saying where the driver can stop. For pick-ups near the station or Crown Road, a side street is often easier.

Why book ahead?

St Margarets is a short hop from Richmond, but quiet residential areas can have fewer cars nearby at very early or late hours. Pre-booking your airport run or late return means a car is arranged for the time you need it.

Neighbouring areas

St Margarets sits between Twickenham to the south-west and Isleworth to the north. Richmond is just across the river, and Kew is a short drive north-east.
