King's Cross and St Pancras
King's Cross is the London terminus for LNER trains up the East Coast Main Line to Peterborough, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh, plus Great Northern services to Cambridge and Hertfordshire. Right next door, St Pancras International handles Eurostar trains to Europe, East Midlands Railway, Southeastern high-speed trains to Kent and Thameslink.
From Richmond, getting there by train means a change or two, often with a long walk between platforms. A Richmond to King's Cross taxi takes you across London to the station entrance at a price you know before you go.
Tell us which station
King's Cross and St Pancras are side by side, but the entrances are not the same. When you book, say which station you need. If you are catching the Eurostar, choose St Pancras so you are dropped near the right entrance.
Journey time and route
Allow 45โ70 minutes. A common route is north to the A4 at Chiswick, then onto the A40 Westway and along Marylebone Road and Euston Road. When the Westway is busy, the driver may go through Hammersmith or Shepherd's Bush.
The Euston Road is the boundary of the central Congestion Charge zone, and the boundary road itself is not charged. If the driver needs to enter the zone, for example because of a road closure, your quote will show how any charge is handled.
Weekday rush hours are the slowest times. Early mornings and weekends are usually faster.
Drop-off and pick-up
Both stations have set areas for dropping off and collecting passengers. The streets are very busy, and the stopping rules can change. The driver will use the best permitted point on the day.
For pick-ups:
- Give your train arrival time and where it is coming from.
- Say whether you are arriving at King's Cross or St Pancras.
- Agree a meeting point and keep your phone on.
Coming home from the north or Europe
Long journeys are tiring. After a few hours on a train from Edinburgh or Paris, a car waiting to take you home to Richmond is worth having. Book ahead, especially for Friday and Sunday evenings.
Vehicle choice
Most people travelling alone or in pairs need a saloon. For holiday luggage, choose an MPV. For groups, see our 6 seater taxi page.
Related journeys
If you are going on to Luton Airport by Thameslink, a direct car may be easier. See our Richmond to Luton taxi page. For trains from nearby Euston, the route from Richmond is very similar.
