Euston for the West Coast
Euston is where you catch Avanti West Coast trains to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, the Lake District and Glasgow, plus London Northwestern trains to Milton Keynes and the West Midlands. It is also on the London Overground and the Northern and Victoria lines.
Getting there from Richmond by public transport takes a couple of changes. With luggage, or for an early morning departure, a Richmond to Euston station taxi is much easier.
How long will it take?
Allow 40โ65 minutes. The route is similar to King's Cross: north to the A4 at Chiswick, onto the A40 Westway, then along Marylebone Road to the Euston Road. Euston station sits just off the Euston Road, a short way west of King's Cross.
The Euston Road forms the edge of the Congestion Charge zone and is not charged itself. If the driver has to enter the zone, the quote will show how any charge is handled.
Building work around the station
The area around Euston has seen major building work, and access roads and entrances can change. The driver will use the most suitable permitted point for drop-off or pick-up on the day. Leave a few extra minutes to walk into the station and find your platform, as the departures board often announces platforms only shortly before the train leaves.
Pick-ups at Euston
Coming home from a trip north? Book a pick-up from Euston to take you back to Richmond. To make it easy:
- Give your train's scheduled arrival time and where it started.
- Agree a meeting point, such as the main entrance.
- Keep your phone switched on so the driver can reach you if your train is late.
Travelling for work
Many people catch early trains from Euston for meetings in Birmingham or Manchester. An executive car is a comfortable option, with room for 2 suitcases and 2 hand-carry bags. Book your return at the same time so you are collected when you get back to London in the evening.
Choosing a car
For one or two people with normal luggage, a saloon is enough. For bigger luggage loads, choose an MPV. For groups, see our 6 seater taxi page.
Other stations and airports
If your train leaves from King's Cross or St Pancras instead, see our King's Cross station page. Heading west? Try Paddington. For flights from north of London, see Luton.
From around the area
We take Euston bookings from across the area, including St Margarets, Isleworth and Kew.
