About Kew

Kew is world famous for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, but it is also a quiet, leafy residential area just north of Richmond. Kew Green, with its cricket pitch and pubs, is at the heart of the old village, and The National Archives sits on the eastern side of Kew.

The area has two stations: Kew Gardens station, on the District line and the London Overground, and Kew Bridge station, just over the river, on the South Western Railway line.

Journeys from Kew

When you book Kew taxis through us, a licensed private hire operator carries out the journey. Kew's position makes some trips especially easy:

  • Heathrow. Kew Bridge leads straight to the Chiswick Roundabout and the M4, so Heathrow is typically 25–40 minutes away.
  • West London stations. The A4 into central London is close by, so Paddington is a straightforward run.
  • North of London. For Luton or Euston, Kew is closer than southern parts of Richmond to the North Circular.
  • Local trips to Richmond, Chiswick and Brentford.

Visiting Kew Gardens

If you are visiting the gardens, tell us which entrance you want. The gardens have several gates, and the main ones are on different roads, including Kew Road (A307) and Kew Green. Give the gate name when booking so the driver drops you at the right one.

When you leave, agree a pick-up gate and time, and keep your phone on. Kew Road can be busy, and stopping is restricted in places.

Pick-up notes

Kew's streets are mostly residential with parking on both sides. Near Kew Gardens station there are shops and cafés, and the roads can get busy at weekends. If your street is narrow, add a note telling the driver where to stop.

Kew is under the Heathrow flight path. That does not affect road journeys, but it is a reminder of how close the airport is.

Neighbouring areas

Kew borders Richmond to the south and Mortlake to the east. Across the river are Brentford and Chiswick. Isleworth is a short drive west over the river.
